Serenity Now

Will 2016 be the year of calm? After the hustle of the holidays, January serves its purpose to refocus our energy. To nurture our bodies and being with whatever it asks for. For the first time, The Pantone Institute, declarer of color trends, chose two colors for its annual Color of the Year: Rose Quartz and Serenity. There’s a direct wellness tie, for what might be the first time.

According to Pantone, as we “seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to modern day stresses, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill our yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent. Joined together, Rose Quartz and Serenity demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace.”

We couldn’t love this acknowledgement more. Here are a few ways to incorporate the Colors of the Year into your beauty routine!

A spritz of rose water! It soothes and cools skin, moisturizes and has a ton of aromatherapy benefits. Beautycountermakes a great option and you can also snag a huge bottle for just a few dollars at Whole Foods.

There’s nothing more serene than the Blue Cocoonfrom skin chef May Lindstrom. It’s a concentrated beauty balm that gets its color from blue tansy (in the chamomile family), an ingredient that helps ease emotional anxiety while releasing heat and relief to irritable skin. It’s a serious tranquil treat.

Have a beautiful January!
